BEGINNING of WORSHIP ― First Beheld the Blue ―

In 2023, during a residency in Izumo that culminated in the dedication of her work to Izumo Taisha, Ito came to realize that everything she had created as art until that point had, in essence, been an act of worship.

Around the same time, while working on her accumulative particle-based series such as Overlap and Water Pollution, she found herself irresistibly drawn to the color blue. She then recalled that the source of this attraction lay in a memory from her childhood.

As a child, she would engage in an imaginary dialogue with the sky, dissolving herself into tiny particles and blending into the particles of water and air. It was through this experience that she first encountered color. What she discovered was a blue that embraced herself, the sky, and everything surrounding her.

This exhibition looks back to the origin of that worship and gives form to the spiritual world of blue.
