私たち人間はなぜ死ななければならないのか？
死とは一体何をもたらすのか？
そして死んでしまった細胞はその死後一体何をもたらすのか？
塩基配列文字のAGCTを墨を使って錆和紙（錆びている紙）にタイプし、そして永遠の眠りについている人間があらわになる。作品はプログラム化された死である、アポトーシス（ギリシャ語で言うと葉が落ちるということ）、つまり生命のライフサイクルにおいて自然の成長と発達の一部として優位性をもたらすために起きるという現象を表現している。
Why do we, humans, have to die?
What does death indeed bring us?
And how does the information of the dead cells stay in this world after death?
On my new works, I type base sequence, AGTC, on Sabi washi （rust paper） with Indian ink, and then the person who is in eternal sleep appears. It indicates a form of programmed cell death, apoptosis （translates to the “falling off” of leaves from a tree in Greek）, which happens to confer advantages during an organism’s lifecycle as part of its natural growth and development.
